Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Gene Lasley Hall

On Thursday, July 17th, the college family and honored guests gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-constructed Gene Lasley Hall. Immediately after the 10 a.m. Landmark service, everyone gathered around the new dormitory for the ceremony. Dr. Don Scovill led the crowd in “How Firm a Foundation.” After the song, Dr. Ron Comfort shared some brief thoughts and read some Scripture. The highlights of the ceremony were the comments and prayer of Pastor Gene Lasley, the pastor of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray, TN. A group of members made the 2–3 hour drive to see their pastor receive this special honor. After the prayer of dedication and cutting of the ribbon, Dr. and Mrs. Comfort laid the last carpet tile to mark the completion of the dorm, and they invited the guests to tour the new facility.

The Lord’s hand was evident throughout the project. Through the giving of God’s people, more than $500,000 was raised in a little over a year, so the dormitory could be paid in full upon completion. In addition, the dormitory construction was completed in a little more than six months. To God be the glory—great things He hath done! Thank you for rejoicing with us.
