It has been incredible to see how many churches and individuals have reached out to ABC over the past two months to send aid to churches and their members who were affected by Hurricane Helene. As of December 1, we have received more than $160,000 and many loads of supplies to help those who are hurting.
The Lord has allowed us to partner with several churches in western NC and eastern TN to provide help to those who are hurting. In addition to meeting physical needs, the Gospel is going forth to people who may not otherwise be reached. Supplies that were donated have been distributed to local churches that are serving as supply stations for their communities. Financial aid has been given to churches who are rebuilding their destroyed properties, church members who lost everything, and efforts to reach communities with the Gospel.
Here is a sampling of the assistance that we have been able to provide for disaster relief:
Donation and restoration of a camper to help a family who was without a home
Buy building materials to be distributed to people whose homes were destroyed or damaged
Help fund a mailing effort to give the Gospel to the zip codes most devastated by the storm
Provide funds to families in churches who lost their homes and everything in them
To secure temporary housing for people left homeless by the storm
To assist pastors whose homes were substantially damaged by the storm
To help churches with the added expenses of becoming supply centers for their community
And much more . . .
The need for supplies has changed greatly since the beginning of the storm efforts. Here are some suggestions of needs from our friends in the disaster areas:
Supply buckets – 5-gallon buckets filled with cleaning supplies and toiletries
Generators, propane, and gas
Volunteer labor that can take care of their own housing and expenses
Campers
Building supplies
Heavy equipment and those who operate it
Funds to support organizations on the front lines
Drinking water, diapers, and used clothing are in abundance and are not needed by many places.
Ambassador is willing to help you coordinate supply efforts and to distribute funds to those on the front lines. Our network of pastors does a good job of vetting those looking for support. If you would like to connect with someone to volunteer your skilled labor or need more information, please email us at info@ambassadors.edu or call us at 704-434-0303.
May God bless all who have donated supplies and given financial aid to help our friends.
Matthew 25:35–40
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
