PT203.1: Evangelist 2A 1 credit hour

The evangelist courses provide practical instruction for the man of God called to be a vocational evangelist. Two evangelist courses are taught each year on a four-year cycle. Therefore, a student will not necessarily take them in numerical order. Preaching in Christian schools, maintaining a balance between evangelism and teaching, preaching to young people, common sins of preachers, and sermon preparation.

PT308.3: Expository Preaching 3 credit hours

A consideration of the steps involved in effective expository preaching including a careful exegetical study of the passage, creative practical arrangement of the sermon material, and dynamic pulpit presentation. Prerequisite: PT 307.3 or equivalent.

PT409.3: Evangelistic Preaching 3 credit hours

A consideration of evangelistic sermon preparation including outlining, proper use of illustrative material, effective use of memorized Scripture, instruction on dynamic delivery and giving an invitation conducive to bringing results, and making doctrinal preaching evangelistic. Prerequisite: PT 307.3 or equivalent.

PT204.1: Evangelist 2B 1 credit hour

Therefore, a student will not necessarily take them in numerical order. Evangelistic, expository, doctrinal, and textual preaching, the evangelist’s relationship to the pastor, the evangelist’s relationship to his own local church, evangelistic music, the invitation, and the training of ushers.

PT410.6: Pastoral Internship 6 credit hours

The student spends a minimum of eight weeks (320 hours) in the employ of an approved local church under the direct supervision of the pastor of that church, at which time the student will observe and participate in the pastoral ministry of that church.

PT210.2: Practicum 2 credit hours

A course designed to expose the student to the elementary school classroom. The student is able to observe the progression of instruction and participate in some of the teaching activities. It is suggested that the observation be done at spring break or immediately following the May commencement. The student must have an approved application to participate in the course. The practicum consists of a minimum of 30 clock hours.

PT401.05: The Preacher and His Ministry 4A 0.5 credit hours

The Preacher and His Ministry course is designed to deal with contemporary issues, ministerial ethics, practical problems in the ministry, and positive steps in building sound, fundamental Baptist churches. The various gifts mentioned in Ephesians 4 are emphasized, with a strong admonition to utilize those gifts in a local New Testament church. Two Preacher and His Ministry courses are taught each year on a four year-cycle. Therefore, a student will not necessarily take them in numerical order. Every male student is required to take the particular Preacher and His Ministry course offered each semester he is enrolled in Ambassador Baptist College.

PT420.6: Evangelist Internship 6 credit hours

The student spends a minimum of four weeks (160 hours) traveling with an approved evangelist under the direct supervision of that evangelist, at which time the student will observe and participate in the ministry of that evangelist. In addition to traveling, he will also submit eight detailed messages appropriate for a revival meeting, recommendations of special night promotions for revival meetings, and a financial plan which includes a budget, tax considerations, and financial accountability.
