PT501.1: The Preacher and His Ministry 1A 1 credit hour

A practical seminar dealing with the problems and opportunities of every-day life in the ministry. The courses will be taught on a two-year rotation. The student is required to take the particular course offered each semester he is attending classes on the graduate level up to a maximum of two years. The course requirements are in addition to the 32 semester hours required for graduation.

PT507.3: Homiletics 3 credit hours

An introductory study of the preparation and delivery of sermons with special emphasis on types, content, and sources of material for sermons. Classroom presentation is required with constructive criticism given.

PT508.3: Expository Preaching 3 credit hours

A consideration of the steps involved in effective expository preaching including a careful exegetical study of the passage, creative practical arrangement of the sermon material, and dynamic pulpit presentation. Prerequisite: PT 307.3/507.3 or equivalent.

PT606.2: Pastoral Theology 2 credit hours

Accentuates the leadership qualities and qualifications of the pastor. Instruction on the administration of church ordinances and other functions such as weddings, funerals, and so on, in which a pastor is personally involved.

PT609.3: Evangelistic Preaching 3 credit hours

A consideration of evangelistic sermon preparation including outlining, proper use of illustrative material, effective use of memorized Scripture, instruction
on dynamic delivery and giving an invitation conducive to bringing results,
and instruction on making doctrinal preaching evangelistic. Pre-requisite: PT
307.3/507.3 or equivalent.

PT607.2: Counseling 2 credit hours

An introduction to the principles and practice of Biblical counseling to enable students to counsel effectively in their local churches, Christian camps, and so on, to equip students to counsel in typical life situations and to apply Biblical principles in finding solutions to problems.
