Dear Friend:
The year of 2009 has been a monumental one in the history of Ambassador Baptist College. I thank the Lord for Dr. and Mrs. Ron Comfort and their dedication and faith in founding Ambassador Baptist College in 1989. On May 8th of this year, Brother Comfort stepped aside to become the Chancellor and passed the reigns of the college to me. This transition has been a humbling, but joyful experience. I thank the Lord for the unity He has given our staff and the wonderful students He has brought to ABC.
Having been at Ambassador since 1992, I have seen the Lord meet many needs. When I give tours of the campus, I could easily spend hours telling story after story of how God has provided our needs. Just this year, our graduate students have been able to enjoy a new library specifically set aside for them. The library was named in honor of the late Dr. David Cummins, formerly with Baptist World Mission in Decatur, Alabama. Dr. Cummins instructed his family to allow all of his volumes on Baptist history to be housed in this library after his passing. It is my prayer that this room will be used to prepare many servants of the Lord for a long, fruitful ministry.
In recent months, a special need of the college has been brought to my attention. By the time December 31st rolls around, the two vans used to transport the college traveling groups will have easily passed the 130,000-mile mark. These vans are a necessity for the ministry of the college.
Every year, our ensemble, quartets, and summer traveling groups serve in more than 170 local churches across the United States. In a typical service, the group provides the special music, and the leader brings a powerful message from the Word of God. As a result of this special ministry, people have been saved, many have surrendered for full-time Christian service, and the burden of ABC has been shared across the country. I thank the Lord for how He has used these groups in the past and pray that He will use them in a greater way in the years to come.
To continue our travel-team ministry, we need your help. To replace the two vans with new or low-mileage vans and purchase a luggage trailer, we are going to need $40,000. Because of the great distances the groups travel in the summer months, I feel that it is the better part of wisdom to purchase newer vehicles to ensure their safety and timely arrival at churches. Would you pray about helping us with this need by giving a special gift at the end of the year?
If you would like to give toward this special project, please click here. For gifts of $100 or more, we will send you a special token of our appreciation for your investment in Ambassador Baptist College. Please remember that your gift is tax-deductible.
Just as we tell our students to trust the Lord for their tuition and needs, Ambassador must trust Him to provide two vans and a luggage trailer. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Thanks for taking the time to consider this special need.
The months of November and December are my two favorite months of the year. May God bless you as you spend time thanking Him for His many blessings and as you remember the miraculous birth of the Lamb of God.
Under His wings,
Alton Beal
President
