  • 2009 Ambassador Classic Resultsgolf_small.jpgSeventy-seven golfers participated in the 2009 Ambassador Classic on July 14th. The Lord gave us some beautiful weather for the tournament. After the golfers devoured their boxed lunches, they loaded their carts and played a competitive 18 holes of golf. When all of the scorecards were submitted at the end of the tournament, one card stood out above all of the others. Winning the tournament with an incredible 23 under par was the team from Oakwood Baptist Church (Alton Ertzberger, Tony Stewart, Butch Ermler, and Craig Shamley). Mark your calendar for Tuesday, July 20th, 2010, and plan on joining us next year.

After a brief introduction by Dr. Ron Comfort, the presidential medallion was placed around Mr. Beal’s neck, and a prayer of dedication was offered by Board Member Dr. Bill Egerdahl.   • Turkey Bowl Triumph2008_turkey_bowl.jpgEvery year at Thanksgiving, the dormitory men challenge the married and alumni men in a game of flag football. In the 2008 Turkey Bowl, the married/alumni team pulled off a 41-18 victory. The deciding factor in the game was defense, with alumnus Rafael Cordeiro making several interceptions. Congratulations to the old guys on their victory!

  • Retirement of Dr. Ernest ChildsDr_Childs_small.jpgOn Friday, November 14, 2008, Dr. Ron Comfort announced to the student body that Dr. Ernest Childs would be retiring at the end of the 2008 fall semester. Brother Childs has taught at ABC since its beginning in 1989, and has been a favorite professor of many through the years. This decision was made in light of his wife’s failing health.   • Gene Lasley Hall Construction To Begin!maintenance_crew.jpgABC is about to begin building a much needed men’s dormitory! During the summer months, a friend donated $300,000 toward the construction of a new dormitory for our preacher boys. For years, many of our young men have cheerfully lived in very modest facilities. With some rooms housing up to ten young men, and others in need of basic repairs, the need for a new dorm has become apparent.
